The reason I have not posted here for a while is because I have been creating, or should I say, getting back to reality. I have virtually cut myself off from technology apart from where it is a necessity in modern day business, the occasional post to my friends on Facebook and being (very) selective about which television programmes I watch. In fact the television has hardly been switched on and it is under threat of being turned into a plant container!
I felt I needed to get away from the pressures, and in most cases garbage information that technology bombards us with every minute of the day; unnecessary and often unsolicited emails, texts, phone calls, reality TV shows that are nothing like the reality I want to live in, soap operas spreading doom and gloom to people who can barely cope with the pressures of their own lives let alone what these shows throw at them, negative and often blown out of proportion news programmes and politicians, advertisements from the companies destroying our world wanting us to buy more of their destructive products …. I could go on but writing this is giving me a headache and I think you can add your own reality busters to the list if you care to.
When I mentioned to my friends what I was doing (or not doing) the first response I got was, “you can’t shut yourself away and hide from reality!” Well, after a few moments of stunned silence I explained that what I was doing was getting back to true reality, the reality of Nature (hey, you can’t get more real than nature, can you?), the wonder of the things I see, hear, smell and touch every moment of every day. I see the natural good in so many things and so many people. I see reality as it stands before me and appreciate it for what it is, yes, even the not so pleasant things. Like light and dark there are contrasts/opposites in everything, that’s the way the world is made and it is these contrasts that give us the power of choice, the power to create our own reality.
My friends it seems have made the choice to accept man-made reality as the truth: wars, political scandal, public hanging (yes they still occur everyday, read a newspaper and someone is being hanged for getting a divorce, being overweight or for just not fitting into a media made category), again the list is endless and I don’t want another headache!
We all have the choice to create our own reality, we are born creators, and I just want to live in my own reality and not someone else’s, whether you agree with it or not, that is the privilege of choice. So if you wonder where I am hanging out these days you know where to find me …. in reality!
